VIETNAM ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS INDUSTRY

The Electronic Components Industry is an supporting industry that provides details to assembly complete products, which plays an important role in the development of the Electronics industry. In 2018, the total value of components production value was estimated to rise by 7,1% compared to 2017 and was growing at an annual rate of 14.6% in the period of 2012 - 2018.

Domestic electronic components production was increasing, the consumption value of the electronic components industry in 2018 increased dramatically by 37,6% compared to the previous year due to the increasing demand of multinational electronics groups in Vietnam such as Samsung, LG, Nokia,.. However, due to the failure to meet the products required by FDI enterprises, Vietnamese enterprises are mainly packaging with simple plastic and metal parts, receiving the lowest value-added part, not able to receive high technology.

Of all the total export value in Q1/2019, 2 main items in the electronics industry which were phones and components, computers, electronic products and electronic components, contributed the most to the export turnover, accounting for 29.3% of the total export turnover.

In 2017, The Government issued Decision No. 68/QD-TTg on the Supporting Industry Development Program from 2016 to 2025 in order to seriously implement the development of Vietnam's supporting industry as a premise for the development of manufacturing and processing industry. Vietnam's participation in many trade agreements in the coming time will help attract foreign investment strongly, especially for direct investment capital, technology transfer promotion, improving business management qualifications, increasing production and business efficiency.
