SUMMARY

Financial intermediation, real estate and business activities contributed 27.4% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2019, followed by mining, manufacturing and utilities (21.0%), and wholesale, retail and hotels (15.9%). Agriculture is the least contributing sector of the economy. The sector contributed 0.7% to GVA.
Five cantons are driving the Swiss economy by contributing 53.8% to the country’s GDP in 2017 and 47.4% of the population in 2018
