Abstracts

Ethylene is the most important product of the olefin market, predominantly consumed in the production of plastics. Consumed either as polyethylene or intermediates to produce PVC, polyesters or polystyrene.

Polyethylenes are commodity polymers used in a wide range of end use segments, including packaging, films and in agriculture, construction and automotive applications. With the wave of new crackers due to come online in North America this report will discuss the impact of Shale gas in light of low oil scenario on the ethylene market and how much of the >10 million tons of new capacity expected to come online over the next 5 years will go ahead. It will also analyze the influence of methanol to olefins, China’s ‘Black Gold’ and bio ethylene on the ethylene market.
